How do I add my first tank?

1. Open TankMate.
2. On the Tanks tab, tap the + button in the top right.
3. Enter a name, volume, water type, and temperature range.
4. Tap Save.

How do I add fish to a tank?

1. Open the tank.
2. Tap + Add fish.
3. Search by common or scientific name, or pick from the popular list.
4. Tap a species, choose a quantity, and tap Add to tank.

Why does the compatibility checker show a warning?

TankMate flags fish whose water type or temperature range don't fully match your tank, or whose combined size pushes you near or past your tank's capacity. Warnings are advisory — read the message, then decide.

How accurate is the stocking calculator?

It uses an inch-per-gallon model adjusted for body shape. This is a starting estimate, not a guarantee. Always factor in filtration, plant load, and species-specific behaviour.

My fish search returned nothing.

If you're offline, search is limited to the species bundled with the app. Connect to Wi-Fi or cellular and try again — the app will then query the full FishBase catalogue.

How do I switch to imperial units?

Open Settings (gear icon in the top right of the Tanks tab) and toggle Units to Imperial. All volumes, temperatures, and lengths update across the app.

How do I turn reminders off?

Disable individual reminders by tapping the toggle next to each one on the Reminders tab. To stop all notifications, go to iOS Settings → Notifications → TankMate.

Can I sync between devices or back up my data?

Not yet. TankMate currently stores data only on the device it was entered on. If you delete the app or move to a new phone without an iCloud device backup, the data will not transfer.

How do I delete all my data?

Delete the app. All locally stored tanks, fish, logs, readings, and reminders are removed with it.
